Morocco is one of the best value destinations in the world right now — but "cheap" means different things to different people. Let me give you real numbers, not vague ranges. I've broken everything down by budget level, with actual MAD prices I see every day, plus what a full 7-day trip costs at each level.
🎒
Backpacker
$25–35/day
250–350 MAD
🏨
Mid-range
$60–90/day

Comfort

Important note for 2026: Morocco co-hosts the 2030 FIFA World Cup. Accommodation prices in Marrakech and Casablanca have already risen 15–20% since 2024 and will keep climbing. If you're planning to visit in the next 2 years, go sooner rather than later — and book accommodation well in advance.

📅 Real 7-day trip costs
You stay in hostel dorms or the cheapest riads, eat street food and local restaurants, take trains and CTM buses between cities, and walk everywhere in medinas. You skip the tourist restaurants and paid guides. Morocco is completely doable at this level — the food is incredible, the medinas are free to wander, and many of the best experiences cost nothing at all.
Accommodation (7 nights hostel/budget riad)700–1050 MAD
Food (street food + local restaurants)700–900 MAD
Transport (2–3 intercity + daily taxis)400–500 MAD
Activities & entrance fees200–300 MAD
SIM card + miscellaneous100–150 MAD
Total (excluding flights)~2,100–2,900 MAD
You stay in good riads with character, eat at proper local restaurants (not tourist traps), take trains and occasional private transfers, and do a one-night Sahara desert trip. This is the sweet spot for Morocco — you're comfortable, you're not overpaying, and you're eating well. Most visitors land here.
Accommodation (7 nights mid-range riad)3500–5600 MAD
Food (local + occasional nice dinner)1400–1800 MAD
Transport (trains + airport transfers)600–800 MAD
Sahara overnight (shared tour)800–1200 MAD
Activities + shopping budget500–800 MAD
Total (excluding flights)~6,800–10,200 MAD
You stay in beautiful boutique riads, have a private driver for transfers, eat at the best restaurants, do a luxury Sahara camp, and have a licensed local guide for the medinas. Morocco's luxury is genuinely world-class — La Mamounia in Marrakech competes with the best hotels on earth, at a fraction of comparable prices in Paris or London.
Accommodation (7 nights luxury riad)10,500–21,000 MAD
Food (fine dining + great local spots)2800–4200 MAD
Private driver + transfers2000–3500 MAD
Luxury Sahara camp (2 nights)2400–5000 MAD
Activities + licensed guides + shopping1500–3000 MAD
Total (excluding flights)~19,200–36,700 MAD
Local money tips: Always carry cash — most medina shops, street food stalls and petit taxis don't accept cards. Withdraw from ATMs at bank branches, not the ones inside medinas (higher fees). Agree on taxi prices before you get in. And remember — the best food in Morocco is never near the main tourist square. Walk two streets away and prices drop by half.
